Weekly Loves #1

Weekly Loves #1

Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance Leave in Conditioner
This was £5 or less, I got it in one of the constant Boots 3for2 on Aussie. It smells gorgeous, and I use it every single time i was my hair. I spray 5-6 pumps of it and run it through the ends of my hair while it's still damp. (I don't know if this is how you're supposed to use it, but this is how I prefer to) :) I'm not a massive hair fanatic, this is the only leave in conditioner I have ever used, and I really enjoy it. I'm not too fussed at trying more, as they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Dainty Doll Powder Blush in Happy Shake (001)
I bought this for £1.99 from fra

grance direct. They are sold out now, which makes me sad! This is a really pale lilac lavender shade. As I am pale, this looks really pretty on. It's more of a highlighting blush than just a straight forward blush that I was expecting. Despite owning this since around April time, this week is the first time I have really enjoyed using it, as I finally realised it works best as a highlighting blush! I think I have worn it every single day this week!

Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me (015)
I was SOOO excited for these to come out in the UK. I only bought one shade as i didn't want to go crazy and then be disappointed by the hype. This is a lovely tinted balm. It's very hydrating, smells beautiful and leaves a pretty pinky red tint on the lips, which it perfect for more laid back days. I think I am going to get the other tinted shades soon as I expect I would like them too!

MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation in NW15
This is a love/hate product for me. I love that it leave a dewy finish, and I look quite glowy. However, I can't weear this on overly hot days, as I end up in a hot mess. Seeing as this week it has started to get a lot cooler where I live, I decided this would be my foundation of choice. And I fell back in love, again! I really do recommend MAC foundations. Although I have only tried 2 (this and Studio Fix), I feel like there is always going to be something for everyone, every finish and every skin type.

I hope you've enjoyed this post! I wanted to share with you some of the things I have loved this week! What are you guys loving this week? Have any of you tried the new baby lips?

Weight Loss

Weight Loss

Since the start of April, I have been trying to lose weight. I'm not going to lie about my weight, basically, my weight fell into the 'obese' category. Realising this, and seeing a photo of myself at my friends 21st, I decided to do something.

This is the photo that made me want to do something about my weight
Obviously, for most girls, and guys too, weight and body image is a sensitive topic. So, for who ever is reading this, I want to be as open as possible about my weight loss journey. If any one else is trying to lose weight, hopefully we can all support each other :)

When I started trying to lose weight, I weighed 14 stone 2 pounds. I started doing the slimming world plan at the beginning of April. Slimming world is one of the easiest diets you could imagine. It's no quick fix, but it's maintainable, the kind of healthy eating you should be doing anyway. Now, as I type, around 4 months later, I weight 11 stone 13 pounds. I still have a bit to go, I think I would like to lose around another stone and a half. For me, it's not about getting to that target weight, it's more about getting to the point that I finally feel confident and happy with my body.

This was me just before holiday, around 12 stone 9 pounds (I realise this is a very flattering angle haha)
My main motivation to lose weight was a holiday i went on in early June. By then, I had lost around a stone and a half. I felt so much more confident, and for the first time in 6 years, I

wore a bikini in public. This was a
massive achievement for me :) Since then, my weight loss had been slower, I guess nothing motivates you like a holiday!

This is me now, at 11stone 13 pounds
I hope this post wasn't too full on for you all. I just thought I would share something that has become quite an important part of my life. I realise I am not thin, and I never want to be 'thin' as such, just confident. Hopefully, if any one else is trying to do the same as me, we can help each other :)

My Brush 'Collection'

My Brush 'Collection'
I keep my brushes in this brush roll that came with the real techniques core collection

Up until about a year ago, I owned one brush that I used for eye shadow, and one old rubbish blush brush. Now, I wouldn't say I have a big collection, I pretty much have one of everything. Most of my brushes are the real techniques brushes, which aren't too expensive, but are incredible.

I have the Real Techniques Core Collection (detailer brush, foundation brush, contour brush and buffing brush), the Expert face brush and the Stippling brush. I got my expert face and stippling brushes from boots and my core collection from Amazon. I'm sure you could find them all cheapest on Amazon, so I would recommend looking on there first. I think all of the RT brushes are amazing. They are really soft and I honeestly don't understand how I managed to do my make up without them! I DEFINITELY recommend them to everyone :)

RT Stippling Brush and Expert Face Brush
RT Core Collection
I have a few elf brushes for eyes, and one random brush I stole from my nan which I use to blend out eyeshadow. None of these are particularly amazing, so I wouldn't really recommend them. Next, I think I want the real techniques starter eye brushes.
My eye brushes L-R: Random blending brush, Elf eye liner brush, elf smudge eye sponge, elf eyeshadow brush
I hope you all appreciate that i cleaned my brushes especially for you all! haha :)

Overall, my favourite brush, (is it weird to have a fave brush?) if the real techniques stippling brush. This applies cream blush beautifully, and is also really good for foundation. I have enjoyed using it with the MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation.

What do you all think of the Real Techniques brushes? What are your faves for applying your make up?

Hope you've enjoyed this post :)

Seche Vite Top Coat

Seche Vite Top Coat

Seche Vite Top Coat £5.45
I'm wearing Essie Navigate Her. You can see how glossy this top coat makes your nails look :)
This is one of those products which pretty much every beauty blogger raves about. I originally bought one of the tiny bottles from ebay to try this out, and i loved it. So, last week, i bought the 15ml bottle.

If you haven't heard of this, it is basically a fast drying top coat. Within 30 seconds of applying it, your nail varnish is dry, even if you apply it straight onto wet varnish. It makes your nails shine, almost like gel nails, which look gorgeous. This is 100% worth the money and the hype it gets, and i know i will continue to repurchase it.

The only problem is that this does go quite gloopy. I am hoping that if this happens, the trick of putting a few drops of nail varnish remover to thin it down will work (as i can't afford any proper products for this job).

Rating : 9/10.

Have you guys tried this? Do you have any similar products you would recommend?

Products Worth The Hype

Products Worth The Hype

After yesterday's downer post about products I regret buying, I thought I would hype up some of my favourite products. I chose 5, because I did not want this to go on forever. I could have chosen many more, but these are some of the products a lot of bloggers/youtubers love, that I have loved too...

Breakfast Scrub, MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study, Effaclar Duo (that got covered in nail varnish), MAC Soft and Gentle, LM Silk Creme Foundation
La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo - £13
I don't have brilliant skin. I made it my new years resolution to remove all make up every night and have a proper skin care routine. Whilst I don't have the most complicated or high end routine, I have for once stuck to a NY resolution! WOO! Part of my routine is the effaclar duo, which has helped so much. This really is incredible. I just put it on my chin at night and before I do my make up in the morning, as my chin is my problem area. My scarring from spots has died down, and I now get the odd sore spot, but nothing near like my skin used to be. I have had compliments from friends commenting on how much better it looks. I put this entirely down to this incredible product.

Soap and Glory Breakfast Scrub - £8
A while ago, Essie Button included this in her favourite, and a snip of her eating it out of the fridge. From then on, everytime I was in boots i would smell this. A few months ago, I finally bought it and OMG its the best smell you can ever smell. Its like honey and sugar and yum. And it leaves you with lovely soft yummy smelling skin :)

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation - £33
I had wanted this for a while when I finally bought it. In MAC I was colour matched to an NW15. That was still slightly too dark for me. But I have found that the lightest LM shade, soft ivory, is the first foundation I have tried that is actually my colour. It looks gorgeous, you get a nice glow in the right places, without looking sweaty. It stays put pretty much all day, I just powder my chin and forehead maybe once during the day. It is however, very expensive, at £33 :(

MAC Soft and Gentle Mineralize Skin Finish - £22
I just realized how expensive this was! Oh dear! But it really is worth it. Louise (Sprinkle of Glitter) LOVES this, therefore i came to the conclusion I
would too. And I do. I use it everyday, and have even discovered it works nicely as an eye shadow, which saves a bit of space in your make up bag.

MAC Paint Pot - Bare Study & Eclair - £15
These are beautiful both as an eye shadow base and on their own. I wear one of them pretty much every day, and I love how they make eye shadow last so much longer, and look so much more intense. I have reasonably oily eye lids, so some sort of base to my eye shadow is a must, and these ones are definitely the best I have tried.

I hope this post has helped you guys. I don't want to be an enabler, but if you are umming and ahhing over one of these products, just do it. ;)
